NATIONAL
Weekly Noteworthy News

Fed Holds Rates Steady Amid Economic Uncertainty

The Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged and signaled it won’t make any moves until there’s more clarity on trade and economic conditions. Fed Chair Jerome Powell stressed the uncertainty around tariffs and their potential impact, noting that while risks have increased, they haven’t fully played out yet. Markets had expected a rate cut in June, but after a strong jobs report, those expectations have shifted to July.

Looking ahead, unless a significant recession hits, the Fed is expected to keep rates elevated in an effort to control inflation, even if unemployment starts to rise. For real estate investors and homebuyers, this likely means mortgage rates will remain around there current level until there’s a clearer shift in economic direction.

MORTGAGE RATES
Postponed Tariffs Cause Rates to Rise

Insight: Mortgage remain flat this week with little change. Rates are staying at their level, waiting on the Fed’s action with interest rates.
